Prof. Dr. Cengiz Şen is a highly respected specialist in Orthopaedics and Traumatology at Biruni University Faculty of Medicine Hospital. He earned his medical degree (M.D.) from Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine between 1982 and 1988, followed by specialization in Orthopaedics and Traumatology from 1990 to 1995 at the same institution.
Following his residency, he began his clinical and academic career as a specialist at FSM Training and Research Hospital from 1996 to 2002. He then moved into academia, becoming Associate Professor at Gazi Osmanpaşa University from 2002 to 2008, and full Professor there between 2008 and 2010. From 2010 until 2023, he served as Professor at Istanbul University Faculty of Medicine, solidifying a long-standing academic tenure.
Prof. Şen’s clinical expertise spans advanced procedures such as robotic hip and knee replacement, prosthesis revision, infection management in bone and joint cases, limb lengthening, and Ilizarov technique treatments. He also pioneered the use of stem cell therapy in orthopaedics and has extensive experience treating congenital deformities, pediatric orthopaedic conditions, and degenerative joint diseases.
Prof. Şen maintains membership in esteemed professional organizations such as the Turkish Society of Orthopaedics and Traumatology (TOTBID), the European Federation of National Associations of Orthopaedics and Traumatology (EFORT), the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), the International Society of Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology (SICOT), and the Turkish Shoulder and Elbow Surgery Association.
